MTV's 2013 man of honor, the President of Pop Justin Timberlake stopped by the 92.3 NOW studios in NYC today (August 27) to chat with Resident Mixer and night show personality DJ Toro. Time was very limited for JT so we jumped right in and spoke about the Video Vanguard honor he received VMAs and his performance with his reunited boy-band, *NSYNC.
Justin spoke of how much of an honor it was to be mentioned in the same sentence as Michael Jackson.
"It's truly an honor", says Justin. "To even be mentioned in the shadow of MJ is a real big honor for me".
Justin went on to speak about reaching out to his *NSYNC bandmates – knowing that almost half of the moon men he won were with his boys he had to have them come out for his big night. Justin says he reached out to each member individually and they all eventually agreed.
"It was one of those things where… if the other dudes say yes then we'll do it", says Justin. "I wanted to speak to each of them individually".
Moving on to new music from JT, he's already finished The 20/20 Experience Part II which is set to drop on September 30th. Justin says the the whole double album was like a fashion collection – where some songs were for the Spring/Summer and others were for Fall/Winter.
"Here's how I've been describing it:" Justin explains. "The first album is like the most beautiful, virginal Freshman that you fall in love with when you're a Freshman in High School. And then you go over to her house to have dinner to try to impress her parents and you realize she has a sister that's a Senior – you know the brunette that got the tattoo too early – and gives you the look like 'I'll turn you out!' It's got a darker energy to it".
JT also says be prepared for ANOTHER JT/JZ collaboration on 20/20 Part II, coming to your ears on September 30th!
Finally, when Toro gave Justin a chance to give the Tri-state a piece of his mind, he paused and said "Do y'all think Rex messed up? Did he mess up putting Sanchez in in the 4th quarter of a preseason game? That's what I wanna know!"
If time permitted, we could have sat with JT for hours. Hopefully you're even more excited now for the release of JT's The 20/20 Experience Part II – judging by the way JT explained it, we ain't seen nothing yet!
