Stars are making Memphis look like Hollywood. FOX13’s been telling you about one movie already in town called «Soul Men.» But now, there’s news of another movie starring a hometown boy.
Two major motion pictures are filming in the city – «Soul Men» and «The Open Road.» Memphis and Shelby County Film Commissioner Linn Sitler confirmed the news first to FOX13.
«As far as I know, «The Open Road’s» Memphis scene, only Memphis scene, is shot in Memphis,» Sitler said.
The stars of both films will spend some time here.
Pop star-turned-actor Justin Timberlake will share «The Open Road’s» spotlight with Jeff Bridges.
IMDB.com says the movie focuses on a road trip with a former baseball legend and his son.
The movie’s stop in Memphis is just a matter of time.
«I can say this in true honesty, as I speak, they’re on their way,» Sitler said.
Of course, J-T is our hometown boy too.
But good luck catching a glimpse of these stars, both films want us to keep their shooting locations hush-hush.
«We just ask the public’s cooperation and not coming to the outside sets because they are on a very tight schedule,» Sitler said.
We did reach Mayor Willie Herenton’s office. We were told he is very excited about both of the movies filming here.
Also, no local or state incentives were used to help these movies in Memphis. Both movies are based out of Louisiana, a place Sitler said, had its incentives together well before ours.
