  Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open Hosts Goodie Two Shoes Foundation Rockin’ Walk

  Las Vegas, NV–TPC Summerlin and the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open are helping kids walk in the right direction, playing host to the Goodie Two Shoes Foundation Rockin’ Walk. Participants may choose from a variety of courses, including the one mile mixed course, 2.5 mile back nine or five mile 18-hole course, and enjoy entertainment, prizes and giveaways, an interactive kid zone and more.

  Walkers are invited to attend the youth clinic hosted by Justin Timberlake and Butch Harmon, which begins at 1:30 p.m. following the walk. Each participating walker will receive a free admission ticket to return to the tournament Oct. 18-24.

  Participants age 12 and under who raise $20 or more and participants age 13 and older who raise $35 or more will receive a Rockin’ Walk t-shirt.   PGA TOUR winner, University of Nevada Las Vegas alum and Las Vegas resident Charley Hoffman is excited to announce the Charley Hoffman Foundation Pro-Am on Monday Oct. 18, 2010. The event will be played at TPC Summerlin, the host course of the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, an Official PGA TOUR Event.

  Hoffman and his wife Stacy created the Foundation in 2009 to raise awareness and financial support for a variety of children’s charities in their native San Diego as well as their adopted hometown of Las Vegas. The inaugural Charley Hoffman Foundation Pro-Am was held in February 2010 in San Diego and helped raise more than $100,000 for the San Diego Junior Golf Association (SDJGA). This will be Hoffman’s First Pro-Am event in Las Vegas and will benefit the following Las Vegas charities: Blessings in a Backpack, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Goodie Two Shoes Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Las Vegas, as well as the Transportation Fund of the local Zelzah Shrine Temple.

  Participants of the Pro-Am will enjoy the unique opportunity to play a round of golf inside the ropes of an official PGA TOUR tournament course alongside a professional PGA TOUR player. The modified shamble will start at 1 p.m. after Hoffman provides a clinic, divulging the secrets of his great golf game. Concluding play, participating amateurs and professionals will honor winners at a reception on The Hill, the tournament’s entertainment pavilion, overlooking the 18th hole of TPC Summerlin.

Tournament Director Adam Sperling has announced a major new sponsor for the 2010 proceedings.   Las Vegas, Nevada (August 12, 2011) – The tournament management of the PGA Tour’s Justin Timberlake Shrines Hospitals for Children Open has announced that football great Emmitt Smith, who was enshrined into the Hall of Fame last week, is scheduled to play in the official MGM Resorts International Championship Pro-Am at the JT Shriners Open on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010 at Las Vegas golf course TPC Summerlin. Smith, who works with his wife on their own foundation, said in a statement he is happy to play and continue the efforts of Timberlake and the Shriners. «I’m thrilled to be a part of the Pro-Am to support the Shriners Hospitals for Children,» said Smith. «Pat and I are driven to help children through our organization and it’s an honor to be involved with such a prestigious event in Las Vegas.   The pros at TPC Summerlin played a role in getting Smith to commit to the event. Smith holds his annual charity event at TPC Craig Ranch near Dallas, and the Las Vegas pros worked with the pros in Texas to help get the invite, via the tournament management, to Smith. Word is that another NFL Hall-of-Famer also holds a charity event at a TPC course and an invite has been sent and could be accepted in the near future. Smith is a three-time Super Bowl champion (1993, 1994 and 1996) and the only player in NFL history to win the Super Bowl, Super Bowl MVP award and the NFL MVP award in the same season (1993). Smith also holds the NFL record for career rushing touchdowns (164) and was named to the Pro Bowl eight times. The Cowboys selected Smith in the first round (17th overall) of the 1990 NFL Draft. Smith starred collegiately at the University of Florida where he set 58 school records in his three years along with earning All-American honors including being named the 1989 SEC Player of the Year.   Las Vegas, Nevada (September 1, 2010)–First came the announcement that 2010 Hall-of-Fame Inductee Emmitt Smith will play in the Championship Pro-Am of the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. Now tournament management for Las Vegas’ PGA Tour event has announced Jerry Rice is scheduled to play on Wednesday October 20, at Las Vegas golf course TPC Summerlin, in the same group as Smith.   During his 15-year career with the San Francisco 49ers, Rice won three Super Bowls (Super Bowl XXIII (’88), Super Bowl XXIV (’89), Super Bowl XXIX (’94)) and one Super Bowl MVP. But sometimes a story writes itself and that is the case with articles surrounding Las Vegas’ PGA Tour event, the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. The actual PGA Tour pros competition takes place Thursday-Sunday, October 21-24 at Las Vegas golf course TPC Summerlin, but the entertainment surrounding the tournament starts earlier, and the entire week is packed with much to do. –By Brian Hurlburt.

  «We had three goals coming into this year’s event,» said Tournament Director Adam Sperling, during the event’s kickoff media day. «One was to create a true community event that engages every aspect of the community, charities, school system, our local business partners. One was to educate southern Nevada and the city of Las Vegas about the amazing work that Shriners Hospitals for Children do both locally and abroad. And also to get back to the what the core product is and has been for so many years, and that is world class championship caliber golf. So I think as we sit here today we’re on the cusp of achieving and realizing those goals, and will continue to work in the years to come to build upon that and make this event better and better every year for all who are involved.» Others attending the media day included defending champion Martin Laird and Las Vegas resident and PGA Tour star Charley Hoffman.

  The Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open is a major Las Vegas event, and helps to promote Las Vegas to the world as a world class golf destination. The Las Vegas Golf Region is the home to many top golf courses, and there are more than 30 pros who play the major pro tours who have strong ties to Las Vegas golf courses. Sperling says he counts about 15 of those Las Vegas pros who should be playing in Las Vegas in 2010.   Las Vegas – Attendees of the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and UNLV Rebel fans and alumni alike, are invited to experience the Rebel Ranch Wednesday, Oct. 20 – Sunday, Oct. 24 at TPC Summerlin during tournament week.

  The Rebel Ranch is a UNLV branded hospitality area on the 18th fairway that offers an up-close view of the finishing hole with indoor and outdoor seating options. Rebel Ranch, presented by CenturyLink , Coca-Cola , Desert Toyota and MillerCoors, will be available to supporters Wednesday, Oct. 20 – Sunday, Oct. 24, with special UNLV Athletics and alumni programming taking place on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $30 per day with proceeds benefitting the UNLV Alumni Association, the Rebel Athletic Fund and the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

  On Friday, Oct. 22, the first 250 UNLV Students at the gate will receive complimentary admission to Rebel Ranch by showing their Rebel Card. All students thereafter will receive complimentary admission to the Rebel Ranch with the purchase of a grounds ticket: $15 in advance, or $20 at the gate, by presenting their Rebel Card.

  Golden Gaming, Inc., operators of all PT’s and Sierra Golds, has partnered with Incredible Technologies, makers of the popular Golden Tee Golf game, to hold Las Vegas’ first citywide Golden Tee Charity Golf Tournament at all tavern locations* Sept. 24 through Oct. 17, with a Golden Tee Golf Home Edition game as the grand prize valued at $5,000.

  Normally if an event is able to throw Justin Timberlake’s name onto something, the masses follow. But in the case of the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children Open, the pop star isn’t just throwing his name on something – he’s involved in every detail.

  Timberlake is in his third year as the title sponsor of the event and has set his PGA Tour stop apart by donating the proceeds of the event to the Shriners Hospital.

  The Shriners Open kicks off the festivities with a walk and youth clinic on Oct. 17 and several other events before rolling into a pro-am tournament on Oct. 20 featuring Timberlake himself and NFL Hall of Famers Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith. The actual PGA Tournament begins Oct. 21 and typically yields some of the top golfers on the Tour not named Tiger Woods (not that he’s in any hurry to return to Vegas).

  Adding to the festivities, Timberlake will perform at Planet Hollywood on Oct. 23 in an event aptly titled Justin Timberlake and Friends.   Las Vegas, Nevada (October 14, 2010)–The boys are back in town is the marketing slogan for this year’s Las Vegas PGA Tour tournament, the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. PGA Tour week in Las Vegas kicks off Sunday, October 17th, and runs through Sunday, October 24th, when a new champ, unless 2009 champ Martin Laird defends his Las Vegas title, will be crowned. Laird is back and heads a pretty solid field that includes a minimum of 10 winners on the PGA Tour in 2010 and several golfers with strong ties to Las Vegas golf courses. –By Brian Hurlburt.

  Some of the notable PGA Tour players include Hunter Mahan, David Duval, John Daly, Davis Love III, Lee Jansen, and Stephen Ames, in addition to the golfers with strong ties to Las Vegas golf courses including UNLV graduate Charley Hoffman. He earned the biggest victory of his career by winning the second leg of the 2010 FedExCup, the Deutsche Bank Championship.
