Rove McManus remembers Belinda Emmett one year on
ROVE McManus will mark the first anniversary of his wife Belinda Emmett’s death in private this Sunday – pre-recording his show and staying with his family.
November 11 marks the first anniversary of his wife Belinda Emmett’s death after her long battle with cancer.
Although his show, Rove, usually airs live on Sunday night, this week’s episode will be recorded on Saturday morning.
It is believed McManus will fly to Perth to spend time with his family during the sad time.
The Logie-winner has been supported through the difficult week by Channel 10 management, his Roving Enterprises staff and celebrity guests, Justin Timberlake, Missy Higgins and actor Vince Vaughn, who agreed to change their schedules.
Justin Timberlake granted McManus his only Australian television interview, sitting down for the behind-the-scenes chat on Tuesday.
The pressure of live television coupled with the emotional strain of the anniversary was behind the decision to pre-record.
“We all thought this was the best way to approach the one-year anniversary”, a Channel 10 spokeswoman said.
Emmett’s death last November 11 prompted a national outpouring of sympathy and tears for the funnyman, who had bravely and lovingly supported the singer through her long battle with cancer.
McManus revealed he considered leaving television after she passed away but returned rejuvenated to a revamped version of his show and exciting new opportunities in the US.
His contract with Ten is believed to expire at the end of this year, with many predicting he will try his luck in America after successful appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
The 32-year-old has found happiness in a new relationship with ex-Blue Heelers star Tasma Walton, who he has been dating for two months. It is unknown whether she will be accompanying him to Perth.
